Dean's message
The MA in Globalisation and Labour is a joint initiative of TISS and ILO. The objective is to provide training to young trade unionists and those interested in working for membership-based organisations and NGOs. We have tried to ensure that our students get the best inputs in teaching and field exposure.
This programme was started in 2007 when the first batch of 10 students was admitted. In that year there were 98 applicants for the course. In the following year the number of applicants rose to 800 and we had to increase the intake to 20. This year, we already have over 1000 applicants. Our intake will be 14. We do not want a large number of students for this course. We are interested in taking a small group of students every year and training them well.
The students of this course have been selected after being screened from a large pool of applicants. They are thus the best in the field. We are sure that the skills that they have gained will be useful for any organisation they join.
