ChakradharCHAKRADHAR INDURKAR
BACHELOR OF ART IN SOCIAL SCIENCES
NAGPUR UNIVERSITY

I did my graduation in ‘Social Sciences’ from PWS College, Nagpur University. While graduation I was engaged in corporate sector. During work I knew contract and casual labour practices in corporate and private firms. I realized that, how unskilled labours and even educated workers from unorganized sector were exploited by contractors / managerial authorities and their precarious work conditions.

When, I knew about master programme in Globalisation and labour from TISS. I felt, this programme will help to equipped technically and understand the labour condition. And it will boot-up my interest.

Recently, I had been completed my ‘Internship’ from “Rashtriya Koyala Khadan Mazdoor Sangh” (RKKMS), Nagpur. This is the largest Trade Union with more than 40,000 membership unionized in the Western Coalfield Limited from Central India. The RKKMS affiliated with Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) and India National Mineworkers Federation (INMF) since 1982.
As an intern I had been discussed/interact with many peer trade union activist and workers employees. I knew they are not acquainted with basic information about their company; their union; their rights and their benefits even they were belong to organized sector.

Presently, writing dissertation paper on ‘Workers Education’ to partial fulfillment of master degree. It explores the role of Trade Union and Management in worker education; its impact on participant workers life and their work.

ArunimaNISHA BHARTI

I am Nisha Bharti. My aim in life is to bring some change in the lives of poor people especially women who are engaged in informal sector by making them aware about their rights.

This course called Globalization and Labour will give me an idea about the problems faced by workers globally. If we aim to bring change globally only then change can be bring nationally and locally.

I personally think in aiming high only then target can be achieved

Presently, I am interning with National association of street vendors of India (NASVI). This organization is advocating with the governments of atleast twenty states of India to implement the National Policy on Urban Street Vendors in each and every state. I am working here as a programme manager and my job profile is to create women cell in all of its member organizations, to strengthen the voice of women.

GirijaNOBIN

I believe that persistence, integrity, and a constant drive for creativity and learning are the keys to success in life. With a solid work experience of more than four years in diverse fields, I have commanded various leadership positions at different stages in my life. I am presently pursuing the global internship program of United Nations at their Head Quarters in New York. The United Nations Office for Partnerships, where I am presently interning, serves as a gateway for collaboration between the private sector, foundations, and the United Nations family. I completed my Bachelor’s from one of the best engineering colleges in Kerala where I was actively involved in the organizing committees of the cultural and academic festivals. My time management skills have come in very handy to meet deadlines and deliver the best, even in time-pressed situations. My work experience at Federal Bank was a great learning experience, as it enhanced my financial and people skills. The two years at Tata Institute of Social Sciences has moulded me into a professional with the right blend of social concern and staunchly professed non-partisan position. The Globalisation and Labour course has equipped me with a precise mix of theory and practical experience to take up a challenging profession in the current global scenario where attrition and lay-offs have become the buzzword.

JoySHITANGSHU TAYE
BACHELOR OF POLITICAL SCIENCE
DELHI UNIVERSITY

A graduate with Political science (Hons.) from University of Delhi, SGTB Khalsa College 2005 batch and have a work experience of six months as an indoor sales consultant with a time share company based in Delhi. I wanted to go for further studies and I went through the TISS brochure where I came through the M.A in Globalisation and Labour program which fascinated me a lot. This course had created awareness in me towards the present conditions and needs of the labour force which has motivated me to work for the labour force both in organised and unorganised sector.

I think that labour situation has grown worst in this recent decades leading to more chaos among the youth, so this course would give a proper platform to the youth to get more involved in the trade union activities and safe guard the interest of the labours.
